Ravi Shastri appointed Indian cricket team’s interim coach

Former India all-rounder Ravi Shastri has been appointed India’s interim coach. Shastri was the Director of the team during India’s tour of Australia and also at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. following that tour. Shastri will be with the team during India’s tour to Bangladesh, where India will play one Test and three One-Day Internationals (ODI). This news comes in as Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman have been roped in by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to be part of the advisory committee. The trio will have a meeting with BCCI President Jagmohan Dalmiya and secretary Anurag Thakur on June 4 and 5 to chalk out further strategies including appointment of a new coach and support staff. Fresh details pertaining to the permanent coach might come out prior to the meeting. Shastri has played 80 Tests and 150 ODIs for India and was part of the Indian side, which lifted the 1983 World Cup.
