India were pushed to the backfoot when they lost the wickets of Murali Vijay, Manish Pandey and Robin Uthappa in quick succession during the second and final Twenty20 International (T20I) at the Harare Sports Club in Harare on Sunday. India were cruising at one stage at a score of 57 for one after six overs, scoring at over nine runs per over, before some disciplined bowling by Graeme Cremer and Sean Williams halted their progress. Vijay departed after an 11-ball 13, getting bowled off the first ball of the sixth over bowled by Cremer, while Pandey was trapped leg-before for a three-ball duck. Robin Uthappa (42 off 25) was dismissed off the third ball of the following over when he was caught rather splendidly off the bowling of Williams for India to collapse to 61 for four. India earlier lost the wicket of Ajinkya Rahane with just four runs on board, with the Indian skipper getting run-out in the third ball of the innings. Uthappa and Vijay then took the game forward for India, getting the fours and sixes in regular intervals as they looked to chase the 146-run target with ease. Zimbabwe finished on a score of 145 for seven at the end of their quota of 20 overs, with Chamu Chibhabha top-scoring for the hosts with a knock of 67 off 51 balls. Putting up a performance much better than the ones in the previous games, Zimbabwe looked poised for a major score after reaching 112 for three, before some disciplined death bowling by Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2 for 26) and Mohit Sharma (2 for 28) did not allow them to cause much damage.
