Bangladesh finished Day One of the first of the two Tests against South Africa right on top. They were struggling to fight when South Africa raced away to a score of 104 for one by the end of the first session but came back superbly in the next two sessions. The spinners struck first to dismiss both set batsmen in Dean Elgar and Faf du Plessis in quick succession. And after Tea, Mustafizur Rahman wrecked havoc when he took three in an over to reduce them to 173 for six. It was only due to the maiden Test fifty from Temba Bavuma that South Africa managed to score a score of 248 in 83.4 overs. Bangladesh came out to bat a couple of overs and played them out safely to ensure they finished the day on top. LIVE SCORECARD: Bangladesh vs South Africa, 1st Test at Chittagong, Day 1

Mustafizur Rahman was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh with four for 37 but it was Mohammad Shahid who bowled his heart out but did not have the wickets to show for his effort. He had two catches dropped of his bowling, both by Imrul Kayes and he will hope for more success ahead. Bangladesh though now will want to bat well and put up a good score to put the visitors under pressure. It remains to be seen how the South Africans come back on Day 2 after being blown away in the final session of play on Day One.
