Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced their 15-man squad for the two Twenty20 internationals against Sri Lanka on Wednesday. They will play in Colombo on July 30 and August 1 and the visitors will be lead by all-rounder Shahid Afridi. After losing the Test series 2-1, Sri Lankans are already trailing Pakistan 2-1 in the five-match One-Day International series with the fourth ODI on Wednesday at Colombo. It is an important series for both teams who are rebuilding to replace some of their great players who have retired from the game and it is Pakistan who seems to recover better than their opponent. The selectors also recalled out of favor left arm pacer Sohail Tanveer who last played in the series in Bangladesh in April. Rasheed said Tanvir was recalled because of his performances in the Caribbean Premier League.
The selectors also surprisingly have picked batsman Umar Akmal in the T20 squad after they had dropped him for the ODI series against Sri Lanka for not showing up for a conditioning camp prior to the announcement of the ODI squad.
The chief selector had roundly criticized the attitude of Umar and made it clear that if he wanted to play for Pakistan he would have to change his attitude.
Squad: Shahid Afridi (captain), Ahmed Shehzad, Nauman Anwar, Mohammad Hafeez, Mukhtar Ahmed, Umar Akmal, Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Rizwan, Sarfraz Ahmed, Yasir Shah, Sohail Tanvir, Imad Wasim, Anwar Ali, Mohammad Irfan, Wahab Riaz or Ziaul Haq.
