New Delhi: Hyderabad reached 143 for no loss at the end of the second day’s play after bundling out Services for 353 in their first innings in their Ranji Trophy Group C cricket match on Monday. Resuming on 244 for three, Services could add just another 109 to the overnight total while losing seven wickets in the process. Overnight batsmen — skipper Soumik Chatterjee, resuming on 135 and Yashpal Singh, on 51, got out early. While Yashpal failed to add any more run to his last night’s score, Chatterjee was dismissed for 156 off 292 balls that included 21 hits to the fence. Thereafter, only Muzzaffaruddin Khalid (35) chipped in with some crucial runs even as others failed to apply themselves. In reply, Hyderabad got off to an ideal start with openers Tanmay Agarwal (47 not out) and Akshath Reddy (89 not out) remaining unbeaten when the stumps were drawn, having already put on an unbroken 143-run stand for the first wicket.
Services batsman Soumik Chatterjee scored an unbeaten century to take his team to a comfortable position on Day 1. Openers Chatterjee and Anshul Gupta (43) put on 108 before the latter was caught behind by Sumanth off left-arm seamer Chama Milind. Chatterjee and Yashpal Singh were on the cease at stumps on Day 1 with Services placed at 244 for 3 in 90 overs.
