Johannesburg: West Indies skipper Jason Holder has said that his side can win the upcoming Test series against Australia if they analyse and exploit the weaknesses of inexperienced middle-order batsmen. The 24-year-old said that his side would also try to put pressure on the players, who are looking for their way back into the side, Sport24 reported. Holder insisted that his side needed to play aggressive cricket and head into the series with a lot of belief to win. Describing the Australian side as `pretty hard`, the right-handed batsman said that they have to remain confident before opposition’s bowlers. West Indies will play a four-day warm-up match against a Cricket Australia XI before heading into the three-match Test series, starting from December 10. Earlier, Jason Holder had said that consistency was the key to advance West Indies in ICC rankings. This was in September when West Indies was languishing at No. 8 in the Test rankings and No. 9 in the One-Day Internationals and Holder said that, with upcoming series against higher-ranked teams, it was important the Windies found some level of consistency, “We want to make that steady progression up but we can’t jump ahead of teams that higher-ranked than us unless we play higher-ranked sides in terms of the points system. If you look at our upcoming schedule, we have Sri Lanka which is ahead of us, we’ve got India in the New Year and Australia at the end of the year — these are all teams that are ranked higher than us. The thing is not to fall further than where we are at this present time and gain points by winning some games against them. You can jump a hell of a lot further up the channel if you beat these teams that ranked higher than you.” WICB: Confident of Jason Holder leading West Indies with courage and conviction
