New Zealand go to lunch at 61 for no loss on Day Two of the second Test against Sri Lanka at Seddon Park, Hamilton. New Zealand still trail Sri Lanka by 231 runs. Martin Guptill and Tom Latham are the two unbeaten batsmen for New Zealand. New Zealand ad bowled Sri Lanka out for 292 earlier, with skipper Angelo Mathews top-scoring with 77. Mathews also went past his 4,000-run mark in Tests and is currently the 1th highest run-scorer for Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka began the day on 264 for 7 and Mathews added a further 14 runs to his overnight score before he was dismissed by Southee after he poked at a ball outside off and Latham safely pouched it at third slip. Suranga Lakmal and Dushmantha Chameera too followed him back to the pavilion soon after that. Tim Southee was the pick of the bowlers for New Zealand as he finished with three wickets to his name. trent Boult and Doug Bracewell chipped in with a couple of wickets as well. The play started half-hour before schedule on Day Two as New Zealand managed to get only 67 overs in on Day One as rain had stopped play. New Zealand will be delighted with the position they have put themselves in this Test and will be looking to add more runs when play resumes after lunch. Sri Lanka on the other hand need a couple of quick wickets. New Zealand have strong batting line-up with the likes of Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor and Brendon McCullum to follow. They will not find it easy to get through all of them.
On Day One, New Zealand had won the toss and elected to bowl first. Both teams go into this match with the same team that played at Dunedin. New Zealand lead the series 1-0, following their 122-run win in the first Test at Dunedin.
