Cricket Celebrity League (CCL) 2016 is set to commence on January 23 with the inaugural match to be played between Mumbai Heroes and the new entrant of the year, Punjab De Sher at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. The tournament will feature eight teams representing film industries from eight languages. There has been one change made from the season with Veer Maratha being replaced by Punjab De Sher. The new side is co-owned by Punjabi actor Navraj Hans and Film Producer Puneet Singh. It is a well known fact that India is crazy about both Bollywood and Cricket. So, a tournament that brings them a mixture of both surely is widely watched among the young Indian audience.
The previous five seasons were held in February-March. However, this year’s schedule includes Asia Cup 2016 and ICC World T20 2016 which is why CCL 2016 was preponed from its usual time. The matches will be live telecasted on Sun TV. A press conference announcing the start of CCL 6 was held a couple of days back in Mumbai. They also announced a CSR initiative, where they would support restoring the lives of acid-attack victims in association of Rotary Club of Deonar. The final of the tournament will be played on February 14.
