Australia received a good start from their openers in the first Twenty20 International (T20I) of the three-match series against India at Adelaide. Both David Warner and Aaron Finch have been in destructive mood and have bitten into the bowling attack. The only bowler that truly discomforted them in the first six overs was Jasprit Bumrah with his unusual, skiddy action and he made the breakthrough by dismissing Warner in the sixth over. It was a shortish ball but it hurried onto the batsman and he mistimed it to mid on to get out for 17. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: India vs Australia 2015-16, 1st T20I at Adelaide
MS Dhoni’s experiment to bowl Ravichandran Ashwin in the second over proved an expensive one with 17 runs coming off it. The intention was to get a surprise wicket and Ashwin did induce a couple of false shots but the skiers had no fieldsmen to receive them on their descent. Nehra had a decent first over but was hit for a big one by Warner in the second.
Earlier, India posted an imposing total of 188 for 3 from their stipulated 20 overs largely because of a fine knock from Virat Kohli. He scored an unbeaten 90 of just 55 deliveries even though he came out to bat at a slightly tricky position. His effort ensured India did not capitulate after the openers were removed by Shane Watson in the fifth over. Watson was the pick of the bowlers conceding just 24 runs from his four overs along with his two scalps. The Australian bowlers just lacked their radar. Shaun Tait bowled an appalling number of scoring deliveries.
