Steven Smith has been dismissed for a 14-ball 21 in the first Twenty20 International (T20I) against Australia at Adelaide. Ravindra Jadeja is the man who has made the breakthrough. He induced the false shot to have him caught at extra over by a seemingly furious Virat Kohli. Kohli gave Smith a long send off after completing the catch. The next over Ravichandran Ashwin got the big fish in Aaron Finch for 44 to put India’s defence of 188 back on track. Jadeja then struck with the wicket of Travis Head trapping him lbw for just five. Australia were cruising at over 10 an over until the eighth over with some really poor bowling from the likes of Hardik Pandya, Ashwin and Ashish Nehra. Finch looked in sublime form and his dismissal will be a big dent for Australia. India will look for another couple of quick wickets. The new batsmen at the crease are Chris Lynn and Shane Watson.

Earlier, India posted an imposing total of 188 for 3 from their stipulated 20 overs largely because of a fine knock from Virat Kohli. He scored an unbeaten 90 of just 55 deliveries even though he came out to bat at a slightly tricky position. His effort ensured India did not capitulate after the openers were removed by Shane Watson in the fifth over. Watson was the pick of the bowlers conceding just 24 runs from his four overs along with his two scalps. The Australian bowlers just lacked their radar. Shaun Tait bowled an appalling number of scoring deliveries.
