West Indies bundled for 148 against Australia on Day 1 of 1st Test

West Indies were bowled out for a low total of 148 against former Test champions, Australia on Day 1 of first Test at Windsor Park in Roseau, Dominca. Shai Hope was the only top scorer with 36 runs, while Mitchell Johnson and Josh Hazlewood claimed three wickets each for 34 and 33, respectively.

As West Indies skipper, Denesh Ramdin won the toss and elected to bat first, the Caribbeans were off to a shaky start as they lost their first wicket in the form of Kraigg Brathwaite, who was dismissed for mere 10 by Hazlewood. Out came Shane Dorwich, but was able to contribute just 12 along with Hope, who fell for 36, after a promising start, to Johnson. It was followed by a brief 10-run stand between Dorwich and Marlon Samuels, before the former fell for 15 to Hazlewood at the score of 85, as the lunch break kicked inWest Indies lose three quick wickets against Australia on Day 1 of 1st Test at Dominica

In came Jermaine Blackwood, following the lunch break, to accompany Samuels, but both fell for two and seven respectively, as West Indies were struggling at 91 for the loss of six. Although Ramdin and Jason Holder looked to hold the innings, following a brief 30-run stand, Ramdin departed for 19, after being bowled by Johnson. Holder to followed him soon after for 21, after being dismissed by Mitchell Starc, as Jerome Taylor fell for just eight off Steven Smith, after being brilliantly caught by Adam Voges. The final pair of Devendra Bishoo and Shannon Gabriel were able to contribute just four runs, as Gabriel was the last man to be dismissed for a mere couple off Johnson, and West Indies were bundled for a paltry total of 148.
