West Indian batsman Chris Gayle will be out of action for a few months in order to recover from his impending back surgery. Gayle’s team, Jamaica Tallawahs, lost to Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2015, “I have a charity game on the second, but after that I will be out of cricket for two to three months. I am going to do a surgery on my back. So I need some time for recovery. Maybe December, before I actually get back in cricket as well. You have got to wish me luck with that surgery and then I will be back strong. Who knows, we will see what happens.”

Gayle is one of the most fearsome T20 batsmen of all time, and is among the most reputed batsmen in the format. Currently playing for Jamaica Tallawahs in CPL 2015. Gayle, who plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Indian Premier League (IPL) is also one of the most popular players in the tournament, and holds numerous records. He has scored the most IPL centuries (and also most centuries in T20 cricket), and is the only person to win the Orange Cap on two occasions; these were in successive years in 2011 and 2012. Earlier, Gayle became the first batsman to score more than 1,000 T20 runs in 2015 during his knock of 90 off 36 deliveries during the CPL fixture between Jamaica Tawallahs and St Lucia Zouks. Gayle achieved the feat for the fifth consecutive year in the format. Against Essex, Kent and Hampshire in three consecutive games, Gayle notched up scores of 92, 151 not out and 85 not out for Somerset.
