MS Dhoni: The Untold Story will feature actor Herry Tangri as Yuvraj Singh in the upcoming Neeraj Pandey-directed film. Tangri, who has featured in other sports films such as ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag‘ in the past, was confirmed for the role of the dashing left-handed batsman on Friday according to the latest reports. Tangri will be part of the cast the features Sushant Singh Rajput as MS Dhoni, as well as the likes of Anupam Kher (as Dhoni’s father), Kiara Advani as Dhoni’s wife Sakshi, etc. The film, whose original release date was supposed to be October 22 this year, will release in the following year with the second phase of the shoot set to commence in January in Mauritius. The film’s casting director, Vicky Sidana, introduced me to Neeraj sir in October. He had seen me in the unreleased film Bhaangarh and was so impressed, he didn’t even take my audition,” Tangri was quoted as saying according to a report on Mumbai Mirror.
Tangri, who claims to have played cricket at an early age, has admitted to facing the challenge of playing the role of a left-handed cricketer while being right-handed himself.

“I played cricket till the district level but I am a right hand batsman and Yuvi is a lefty. My coach, Mohit Chaturvedi, had to train me for a month before I got the stance right. The first few days were really difficult,” added Tangri, who has been mistaken for the Punjabi cricketer on several occasions.
Tangri’s role will mostly focus on a state-level Under-19 match played in 1999 in Jamshedpur, in which Yuvraj and Dhoni were in the opposing sides. While the match was never aired, it was an important one nevertheless, with several selectors watching the game closely.
