Brisbane: Following the defeat in the first ODI, India’s opening batsman Rohit Sharma has stressed that there were a lot of positives to be taken from Perth, and added that the team need to improve its bowling. “There were a lot of positives to be taken from the previous ODI, especially playing in Perth and scoring 309 runs. Losing the game was not such a positive sign but we did pretty much what we could. There were a lot of positives as far as batting was concerned but we need to improve our bowling and get the breakthroughs,” Rohit told media. He lauded the Australian batters for their brilliant performance at the WACA and said, “They created very good partnership and we were not able to get back into the game, they batted really well. If you don’t take wickets in the middle, it is always going to be difficult, especially here is Australia.” ALSO READ: Australia likely XI for 2nd ODI at Gabba

Talking about the Brisbane pitch, he said, “The conditions will be very similar what we got at Perth. We will get more extra bounce as I think the Perth pitch was on a slower side. The fast bowlers will get a little more assistance as compared to Perth for a long time.”

Earlier, Australian skipper Steven Smith and George Bailey scored well-deserved centuries as the hosts staged a brilliant fight back to claim a five-wicket win against India in the opening match of the five-match series here at the WACA cricket ground on Tuesday. India, who lost the first ODI will look to level the series when they will take on the world champions in the second ODI in Brisbane on Friday.
